The photos were taken in 1967-68 by John Walmsley for his final year project at Art School.   These modern colour photos were taken by John Walmsley on his return visit in 2010, 42 years later.  Summerhill School, Leiston, Suffolk. The school was founded by A.S.Neill in 1921 and is run on democratic lines with each person, adult or child, having an equal say.  You don't have to go to lessons if you don't want to but could play all day.  It gets above average GCSE exam results.
