The tidal bore racing into the mouth of the river Kent, Morecambe Bay, Lancashire is a dangerous place.  There are quicksands and tidal currents which will quickly cut you off from land.  In February 2004 18 Chinese cockle pickers were drowned when  overcome by fast rising tides.
